Jammu and Kashmir is the northern most state in India and its divine beauty is something that justifies its crowning position in the country. The state is divided into three region - Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh. Each of this region and its people has its own way of life, tradition, culture and even the appearance varies from one place to another. The population of this state is predominantly Muslims with Hindus inhabiting mainly the Jammu region and Buddhist being confined to the Ladakh region.
Best Time to Visit - Kashmir valley is best visited between April to June while Jammu region is best between October to March.

Srinagar, the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir is spectacular city with loads of beauty. The tall chinar trees that spread throughout this city seem to be hiding it from the evil eyes of the world and retain its purity. The city has so much to offer in terms of attraction that a tourist, on a trip to explore this marvelous place will find that he is falling short of time. It is a city where lakes (like Dal Lake), houseboats and gardens (like Shalimar Garden) provide an ambience that is difficult to find anywhere else in the country. Tourists can also shop for exquisite items in this city.


Jammu, the winter capital of the state is more renowned for its temple, so much so that it has been awarded the status of the 'city of temple' (like Raghunath temple). Apart from temples the city also houses some magnificent forts and palaces like Bahu Fort and Amar Mahal Palace. Shopping is also an exciting option in this city.

Leh is the located at an altitude of 3505m, however, this by no means indicate that attractions here is in any ways inferior to that of other regions of the state. Palaces, monuments and monasteries are in abundance to keep you entertained throughout your trip.

Jammu & Kashmir Lakes and Gardens
Lakes and Gardens enhance the beauty that blissfully graces state. The most famous of all lake is the Dal Lake which is mainly used for tourism. Surrounded by mountains on three sides, this lake exudes a singular beauty. The houseboats on this lake provide the tourists an opportunity to spend some quality time in close proximity of nature and feel an ecstasy that has long been buried in the heart.

Kashmir was a hot favourite with the Mughal rulers due to its cool weather and wonderful beauty. These Gardens include the Chashme Shahi Garden (Royal Spring), Nishat Bagh (Pleasure Garden) and Shalimar Bagh (The Abode of Love). Trekking and Jeep Safari in Ladakh covers some enchanting areas like the Suru and Zanskar valley, the Nubra valley, Tso Moriri Lake and the Pangong Lake Circuit.

Reaching Jammu & Kashmir
By Air - Regular flights from Delhi and other parts of India connect Srinagar, Jammu and Leh, some directly and some indirectly.

By Rail - Jammu is connected to major cities in India with regular rail services.

By Road - Jammu is connected by road to Delhi and Jalandhar, Ladakh, Srinagar and a few more destinations. Srinagar is connected to Jammu while Leh- Ladakh region is connected to Srinagar and Manali.
